Miss Powell had the most beautiful voice. She was just perfect for those musical roles. Dear family I am sorry for your loss. Try and rely on all those beautiful memories she leaves with us all. Comfort from God to the family.

Oh my goodness, I was so sad to hear of Jane’s passing and my sincerest condolences to her family and friends. My favorite Jane Powell movie is A Date With Judy even if it is “strictly on the corny side. “ She also did an incredible job on Law & Order SVU.

I was watching 7 Brides for 7 Brothers with my grandma when I fell in love with musicals because of this wonderful ladies voice and talent. RIP beautiful Jane Powell as your talent will go on thanks to the many movies and T.V shows you were on. You have earned your wings and will be flying gracefully among the angels.

This beautiful talented lady was so admired and respected. I saw her once at the Rainbow Room in New York at Rosemary Clooney's show. Jane was introduced as was her new husband, Dickie Moore. They positively glowed with happiness when introduced. It was a wonderful moment. Her work was never less than stellar! She truly was 'human sunshine.'

Condolences and prayers for the Powell family from her life long friend from Portland Oregon, Shirley Hanna (Bender). Shirley and Jane were very close friends growing up in the Grant Park neighborhood of Portland going to school together while developing their wonderful singing gifts. They have exchanged many phone calls and letters over the years and cared deeply for one another over their long lives lived.

So devastated to hear this news. I met Jane in the '70's when she was performing in Norfolk, VA. She came with her dear friend, Ruby, who I would so like to hear from. I took Jane antiqueing--for a Grandfather's clock and wicker furniture. We had such a good time together and kept in touch for many years. I lost track of her when she left NYC. She was so shy and modest and a most generous person. I have many notes from her which I shall always treasure. I had hoped to reconnect with her and she had been on my mind of late. One should never put off doing what is in one's heart. My love and sympathies to her children who she talked about frequently and was so proud of..
My husband passed away in 2015 with dementia. I know what a struggle she must have endured with her husband.

I have been a fan of Jane since I was a kid and I’m 82 now. I still have scrap books from yesteryear and saw her in Australia. It’s ironic that she died on my 82 birthday. RIP Jane.

Thank you Jane Powell for being an icon of beauty and grace with an amazing voice. You were a woman who was loved so much by young girls in the 1950s, like myself who were awe struck with your graceful performance in 7 Brides opposite handsome Howard Keel. Your beauty and charm left us with memories for a lifetime! Thank you Jane Powell. You will be missed and always cherished.

I became a Jane Powell fan at the age of 4. There was some inexplicable instant connection between her vocal output and my auditory cortex. I first met her in 1963. Just about every time she did a nightclub show or a summer stock production I was there. She would look down in the audience and say, “Oh, Sally’s here (again).” We became friends. Many years later, she was appearing in Indianapolis and actually called me at work (in Chicago) to say, “Are you coming?”

One problem I had when we met was those stunning big blue eyes. I couldn’t look directly at her and remember what I was going to say!

In recent years, I called her every couple of weeks just for the reassurance of hearing her voice. She would giggle a bit and say, “I’m OK honey.” I knew it couldn’t last.

Thanks, dear lady, for accepting me into your life, and even more thanks for all the music.

I totally loved Jane Powell. She had the most magnificent voice. I always watch her movies on TCM. I first saw her in “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers” when I was 8 years old. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to her daughter, Lindsey, her friend Susan, and other family members. Here’s a somewhat humorous anecdote from 1980. I was attending a stage musical premiere in Hollywood and after the show, I went to the food table. I accidentally stepped on someone’s toe and when I turned around it was Jane Powell, who I apologized profusely too. I came that close to a screen legend I will always admire. She was gracious and smiled. I was mortified. Rest In Peace beautiful Jane.

Deep sympathy and condolences to Darling Jane´s family and friends. I remember so well as a little girl (I´m 78, and a CT resident) seeing this immensely talented "Sweetheart of America" bring the house down with every performance.
