She was born on April 8, 1924 in Clinton County to George R. and Edith L. (Kressley) Miller. Mary was the eldest of seven children – Jim, Paul, Dale, Bert, Gert and John Miller. She was a graduate of Rossville High School. She married Clinton Woodruff on April 12, 1942 in Greencastle, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1989. Together they raised five children, Roy, Sharon, Bob, Dick, and Kenny Scott, a foster son. She loved her Lord and her family.

In 1946, she and her husband returned from overseas. Together they ran and owned AAA Heating and Plumbing, which is still family owned. She worked as secretary for the business for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Mary and three close friends, Roy, Joan and Ron, and supported Pastor Tom Bartley with Meals on Wheels on the west side of Indianapolis by serving soups and sandwiches to the needy for three years.

Mary served as Volunteer Chaplain for Wesley Manor for 10 years. She received the 2010 Chaplain Award. In 2011, she received a Random Act of Kindness Award presented by the City of Frankfort, submitted by J. Cichinski. Mary was an accomplished seamstress, making 34 quilts over the years, and giving them all to family and friends. Mary was a very giving person who never met a stranger.
