Brad Doleys Obituary

Brad Burt Doleys

Brad Burt Doleys was born on June 14, 1970 and left this world far too soon on Friday, June 25, 2021. His childhood and early adulthood were spent in Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama where he was a beloved son and grandson, a devoted brother, and a lifelong friend to almost anyone he met.

Brad earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Psychology from AUM and began his career as a counselor and therapist to countless children and adults who would benefit from a counseling style filled with humor, love, and strength that only "Mr. Brad" could give. He devoted his life to the unique job of mental health and helping others, but more than this, he devoted himself to all people around him.

Brad moved to Gadsden, Alabama in 2001 and began a career at Mountain View Hospital during which time he became a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He became an amazing and much loved son in law, brother in law, and cherished uncle. He built a life in Gadsden where he created more meaningful relationships than can be counted.

To know Brad Doleys was to know that there was no time that humor was not appropriate and that laughter is the greatest healer of all. He made the world a better place with his easy way of making everyone feel special and by sharing his vast wealth of knowledge on most any subject. He had heroes of men such as Arnold Schwarzenneger, Jocko Willink, David Goggins, among countless others that inspired his own life with their movies and quotes which he always shared with the people he loved. His impersonations, especially of his greatest idol Arnold, ring still in the ears of all who knew him.

His presence as a person was so large in every way and this world is less for his loss. Brad worried more about others than himself and in that, it cannot be doubted that to honor his legacy we must continue his work by living to the fullest extent and by giving in whatever way possible to make the world a better place.

Brad was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Thomas and Josephine Burt, and H. T. and Lois Henderson as well as his brother Christopher Doleys who have welcomed him home.

He is survived by his wife, Leandra Doleys; Son, Brant Bullock (Lauren Hood); Beloved granddaughter, Storm Bullock; Precious grandson, Brody Bullock. Parents, Dan and Sue Doleys and Tom and Kay Burt. Brothers, Nick Doleys, Tom Doleys (Caren), and Hartley Burt and Sister, Danette Nix. Cherished In Laws, John and Deborah Hollingsworth, Brother in Law, John Hollingsworth and special nieces and nephew Natalie, Rylynn, and Holden Hollingsworth as well as a host of other deeply loved nieces and nephews.

Our deepest appreciation to Gadsden Police and Fire Departments, AMed Ambulance Service, Gadsden Regional and UAB emergency departments, UAB NICU, Legacy of Hope, Southern Heritage Funeral Home, and everyone who assisted us in the hardest time of our lives.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 2nd at Riverchase United Methodist Church 1953 Old Montgomery Highway Birmingham, Al 35244 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Service at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a celebration of life gathering in Gadsden Alabama on Sunday, July 11th beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Venue at Coosa Landing 201 George Wallace Drive Gadsden, Alabama 35903.

Leandra, I won't dare to fathom what you are going through. I truly send my love and prayers to you, all the family and the many, many friends he made over his lifetime. Brad was an outstanding man that left a positive impact on nearly everyone he met including mine. The years we worked together he always made the bad days better and the good days great. He just had this knack where he knew exactly what to say and how to say it right when you needed it most. He will be truly missed by so many. May God bless you, your family, all that loved him and provide the strength, and comfort you need to go through each day without his physical body beside you, as I believe his spirit will always be with you until the day you are reunited. He walks agmonst the angels now.

Brad was a good friend of mine at work. He was the first one that I got to know starting at Mountain View. I didn´t know anyone as a new registered nurse and Brad was the one I gravitated towards. I will miss the Monday mornings in his office. We were planning a paranormal excursion together. Like I did with a few other staff members in Tennessee previously. Put it off because of Covid-19. Now I will never get the chance to do that with Brad. Life is too short, we should seize opportunities when they are available. No one can fill the void he created. Look forward to see you in heaven one day my dear friend.

Years ago I found this phrase comforting.
"Perhaps those are not stars in the night time skies but rather our loved one letting us know they are ok and are watching over us."
We pray for strength for all.

I remember Brad when he and his precious Mom moved to B´ham. We lived in the same apt. Complex. He was adorable and Sue was a wonderful mom. To read abt. his many accomplishments is not surprising. My heart aches for all who lived him but I believe his presence will be felt forever. He is with the King. Bill and I both send our love and prayers. Cathy
