Byron Pledger Obituary

Celebration services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bachelors Chapel Baptist Church, Hokes Bluff, for Mr. Byron Kenneth Pledger Sr., who went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 20, 2008. Bro. Harold Epperson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Jones Chapel Baptist Church, Rocky Ford Road, Ball Play. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel directing.

Mr. Pledger was a native of Ball Play for most of his life, where he worked for Synergy Gas and retired after over 30 years. He was a faithful member of Bachelors Chapel Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff. Mr. Pledger served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Watts Pledger; father and mother, David and Ettie Pledger; brothers, Emory and Hoyt Pledger.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Pledger; daughters, Angie (James) Klingbeil and Misty (Tim) Hawkins; sons, Byron "Bud" (Cindy) Pledger and Joshua Pledger; stepchildren, Clay (Kristi) Conner and Ginny Conner; grandchildren, Heather (Matt) Sekellick, Dustin (Amanda) Klingbeil, Amber (Duncan) Reeves, Beth Pledger, Samantha, Ashley and Sarah Pledger, Dane Hawkins and Brendan Conner; great-grandchildren, Blake, Andrew and Kylee Sekellick and Alexis Hope Klingbeil; a host of nieces and nephews; over 100 foster children; brothers, Wayne (Mary Ann) Pledger and Ray (Peggy) Pledger; and sisters, Theda Young, Audrey (Lloyd) Vermillion, Onzelle McCurdy and Opal Norris.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Mark Pledger, John Pledger, Paul Pledger, stepson, Clay Conner, and friends, Lamar "Bo Bo" Dean and Vandal Dean, Derrick Haney and Jay Hood.

Honorary pallbearers will be special friends, David and Wyline Dean, Harold Epperson, the Men's Sunday School class of Bachelors Chapel Baptist Church and nephew, David Pledger.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
