Gerald Wesley "Jerry" Kline

1939 - 2016

Gerald "Jerry" Kline, 76, Lawrenceville, Georgia, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Kittaning and Tionesta, Pennsylvania, where he attended West Forrest High School. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1957 to 1963, being honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal (E-4). Jerry earned his BA from Samford University, Birmingham, in 1968, and MTH from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mendel M. Kline and Catherine Lamison Kline; brothers, Ralph Kline and Bobby Kline; and great-granddaughter, Kenzlynn Maddox.
Jerry leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Menninette Allgood Kline, Lawrenceville; and four adoring children: son, Gerald Wesley Kline II (Tonya), Alabaster; daughters, Susan Abee (David Sr.), Gainesville, Georgia; Sharon Kline, Lawrenceville, Julianne Nelson (Gary), Gadsden; and adopted daughter, Tram Tran Vuong (Phan), Lawrenceville.
Jerry was a fun and loving "Pap" to 15 grandchildren, Tiffany Valdez (Mike), Boaz, Randall Maddox, Northport, Catherine Maddox, Gadsden, David Abee Jr., Jerrod Abee and Grace Abee, Gainesville, Regan Kline, Alabaster, Stephen Shimel, Birmingham, Michael Nelson and Scott Nelson (Tiffany), Gadsden, Taylor Burnett, Savannah Burnett and Mackenzie Burnett, Alabaster, Tram Anh Vuong and Ngoc Anh Vuong, Lawrenceville. Five great-grandchildren also dearly loved their "Pap": Ayden Page, Raylan and Aurora Valdez, Boaz, Hunter Nelson, Gadsden, and Lonnie Maddox, Northport.
One of nine children, Jerry leaves behind one brother, Charles Kline (Cathy) Pleasantville, Pennsylvania; and sisters, Kathleen Bowman, Baltimore, Louise Fitzgerald (Garry), Avon Part, Florida, Bernice Osten (Bob) and Carolyn Mealy (Merle), Tionesta, Pennsylvania, Janet McKee, Crimora, Virginia; brothers-in-law, Richard Allgood (Vivian), Loganville, Georgia, Raymond Allgood (Debbie) Winder, Georgia. Uncle Jerry/Mr. Jerry is lovingly remembered by host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jerry was a minister in Southern Baptist churches for 30 years, serving the Lord in Vredenburgh, Alabama; Ruth, Mississippi; Helena, Gadsden, and Northport. After retirement and moving to Georgia, he kept busy working for Kenan Transport, Qualcon and Lakeview Academy, where he made many good friends. He enjoyed spending time with some of his Marine Corps buddies, known as "The Gunslingers," and sitting outside visiting with neighbors and friends. Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor, his gregarious personality and his gracious, kind heart.

A Celebration of Life Service for the Rev. Gerald "Jerry" W. Kline will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Dale officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
