Orell Smith Obituary

Orell "Dean" Smith, 84, of the Carlisle community, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham. Orell was born on Dec. 22, 1932, to the late Beamon and Lela Scott.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Billy Smith; her son, Kenneth Smith; and her sister, Tula Busha.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Roger) Hughes; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Smith; four grandchildren, Tammy (Nick) Tatum, Rodney (Monica) Hughes, Amy Smith and Holly Smith; two great-grandchildren, Chase (Haley) Sparks and Chandler (Dalton) Cook; one sister, Bobbie Roberson; two brothers, Autrey (Betty) Scott and Mackie (Norma) Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Albertville Memorial Chapel, with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. A graveside service follows at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz, with Pastor William McClellan and the Rev. Charles Hall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 130 First St., Albertville, AL 35950, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of your choice.
