Paula Chamblee Obituary

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Etowah Memorial Chapel for Paula Rogers Chamblee, 37, Sardis, who died Monday, July 20, 2009, at her residence. Cobb Hallmark and Joe Wise will officiate. Interment will be in Whitesboro Cemetery. Etowah Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. After a long and difficult fight with cancer, Paula finally won the battle. During the many months she fought, her faith in God's healing power never wavered. Monday morning she received the perfect and divine healing she had prayed for for so long. During her 37 years on earth, she had many great accomplishments, which included graduating from Jacksonville State University with majors in math and computer science. Later she received a master's degree in math. She taught math classes at Snead State Community College. Though she did many wonderful things while here on earth, to her, her greatest accomplishments were being a Christian and serving as a pastor's wife at Canoe Creek Baptist, Mt. Pisgah Baptist and Mt. Zion Baptist. Her joys in life were her children, Bethany Nicole and Jacob Scott. She was a loving mother, a wonderful daughter and sister and a faithful wife. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Warren and Jessie Mae Hallmark, O.Z. and Louise Rogers; and her father-in-law, Kenneth Chamblee. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Chamblee; daughter, Bethany; son, Jacob; father and mother, Gaylon and Janet Rogers; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela (Shane) Bridges; niece, Macy Bridges; nephew, Brayden Bridges; mother-in-law, Frances Chamblee; aunts and uncle, Kathy (Tommy) Bryant, Joan (Gerald) Moman and Mavis Smith; and special friends, Senta Graben and Gina Wood. Pallbearers will be Brian Bryant, Stacy Richey, Dru Richey, Shane Bridges, Tommy Bryant, Gerald Moman and Lavaughn Williams. Honorary pallbearer will be Scottie Bryant. Special thanks to Mt. Zion Church (Green's Chapel community), New Welcome Church (Egypt), Dr. Evan Johnson, Dale Johnson and all who prayed or helped in any way.

Sissy,

You will be deeply missed. I have never met anyone quite like you. You truly were an ANGEL here on earth. The bible teaches us that noone is perfect, but, you came as close as anyone else I have ever met. I will never forget you picking me up for school, in your gray Buick and our talks we had along the way. Your walk while hear on Earth was one that touched many lives. Your compassion, devotion, loyalty, and beauty are second to none.

I will miss you so much Sissy. Yesterday, when I got the news, I had to shut the door to my office because the thought of the reunion with Maw Maw, Paw Paw and Mr. & Mrs. Rogers filled me with emotion. Tell Maw Maw and Paw Paw I said I love them so much and to say I miss them is and understatement...

I love you Sissy!!!!

May God wrap his arms of love around you during this time. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that Paula is home now, suffers no more, and will be waiting at Heaven's gates for you when your time on earth is done. Although I can't be with you today, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you during this most difficult time.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
