Roy Bonner Obituary

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Central Church in Rainbow City for Roy Stevenson Bonner, 91, Rainbow City, who passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014. The Rev. Sherri Reynolds will officiate. Burial to follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Bonner was born in Cullman County and lived and worked all his adult life in Gadsden. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a Communications Specialist and was a POW until the end of the war.
During his business career, he owned and operated B&T Pest Control, North Alabama Insulating Company and Bonner Acoustical Contractors until he retired in 1988. He was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball and the University of Alabama football. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and was an avid bowler all his life. He will always be remembered for his sweet, kind and gentle spirit. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and served his church in numerous positions for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael R. Bonner; and his brother, Erthal Bonner.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Imogene Bonner; his daughters, Brenda Heaton and Linda Brandon; and his son, Ken Bonner (Debbra); five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Matt Bonner, Jeff Brandon, Jeremy Espy, Zachary Burchfield, Noah Burchfield and Dylan Shadinger.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Roy Bonner Maintenance Fund at Christ Central Church.
The family will receive friends at the church Monday from noon until the time of service.
