Chesnee, SC - Cecil Samuel Blackwell, 71, of 173 Adams Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born in Cooley Springs, he was the companion of Sandra Blackwell and son of the late Luther Blackwell and Hattie Hood Blackwell. He was a graduate of Chesnee High School and Spartanburg Technical College, retired from Coveris after 48 years of service and a member of Cooley Springs Baptist Church. He loved his family, gardening, carpentry and woodwork.
He is also survived by a son, Kevin Cecil Blackwell of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter, Amber Blackwell of Boiling Springs, SC; a brother, Junior Blackwell in Boiling Springs, SC; a sister, Ada Jean Cudd (Bill) of Chesnee; two grandchildren, Logan Alexander Blackwell and Kailey Jean Blackwell; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Robbins and a brother, Billy Blackwell.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 25, 2021 in the Cooley Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Social distancing and masks are requested.
