Doug Joy Obituary
Blacksburg, SC - Douglas "Doug" Reed Joy, 75, of Blacksburg, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Born in Shelby, NC, he was the husband of JoAnn Harding Joy and son of the late Henry Grady Joy, Sr. and Dorothy Ellis Moore and stepson of the late Furman "Tince" Moore. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School, a graduate of Cleveland Technical College, retired from Vulcan Materials and attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Blacksburg. He was a U. S. Marine Vietnam
Veteran, a Shriner, and Mason with the Gaffney Lodge. He loved his family, outdoor sports, riding motorcycle, playing billiards and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons, Brandon Douglas Joy (Melody) of Gaffney and Jaxon Dakota Joy of the home; two daughters, Angela "Angie" Joy Harrill (Mark) and Tina Joy Foster (Brad), both of Gaffney; three brothers, James "Jimmy" Owens (Judy), Wallace "Dickie" Owens, both of Gaffney and Franklin Owens (Teresa) of Duncan; a sister-in-law, Tammy Joy of Latta; five grandchildren, Kayleigh Brown (Brandon), Caleb Harrill, Autumn Foster, Mallory Joy and Dalton Joy; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Joy, a sister, Ela Pearson, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Owens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Wells officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
The family will be at 2067 W. Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
