Gaffney - Dennis "Earl" Scruggs, 64, of 137 Nob Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Mary Black Health Systems-Gaffney.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the husband of Debbie Suttles Scruggs and the son of Clyde Earl Scruggs of Forest City and the late Doris Parris Scruggs and the step-son of Bobbie Yelton Scruggs. He was a graduate of Chase High School, Spartanburg Technical College, attended USC Spartanburg and was retired from Bosch-Rexroth. He loved to play his guitar, loved Rock and Roll, The Blues and Gospel music. He enjoyed riding his Harley, was an avid NASCAR and Clemson fan. Mr. Scruggs was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are a son, Matthew Scruggs and wife, Megan of Camp Pendleton, CA; a daughter, Amanda Lucas and husband, Chase of Columbia; three sisters, Debbie Reynolds and husband, Steve of Gaffney, Vickie Pollock and husband, Tim of N. Myrtle Beach and Pattie Toney and husband, Rocky of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Stella Lucas, Paxton Lucas, and soon to arrive, Laken Lucas, Annabelle Scruggs, Connor Scruggs and Cannon Scruggs; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Scruggs was preceded in death by an infant brother. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Black of Gaffney, especially ICU nurses and staff for their exceptional care.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at State Line Baptist Church. A memorial service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. at the church with Reverend Darrell Revels and Reverend Kris Showen officiating.

My thoughts and prayers are now with the family. Earl was a good friend. I will always remember him for his free spirit, love of his family and friends, music, and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Heaven just got a little louder. RIP
