Frances Childers Obituary
Gaffney, SC - Frances Medley Childers, 89, of 188 Fleming Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at her residence.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Carl Dean Childers and daughter of the late Cleve Medley and Ila Reynolds Medley. She retired from Oxford and Bookshelf Florist and was a member of Love Springs Baptist Church. She loved her family, gardening, enjoyed working and was very mechanical.
Surviving is a son Rick Childers (Sandi) of Gaffney; three daughters, Jean Goode, Gloria Barrett (George) both of Cowpens and Brenda Schrader (Chuck) of Gaffney; a sister, Julia Swanger of Gaffney; sixteen grandchildren, Mark Wyatt (Kelly), Melissa Pennington (Billy), Joey Lankford (Christine), Brian Lankford (Kelly), Travis Lankford, Brandon Pennington, Craig Pennington (Sam), Brandi Crane, Laura King, Jessica Yarborough (Connor), Aaron Coker (Courtney), Ginny Delmont, Thomas Barrett, Joseph Barrett, Casey Ellis (Brian) and T. J. Goode; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lankford, two grandchildren, Dale Childers and Lisa Lankford, five brothers, William Medley, Ralph Medley, Dolphus Medley, Tom Medley and Lee Medley and five sisters, Lula Gathings, Mary Bell Murray, Pauline Porter, Lois Mullinax and Eunice Medley and a son-inlaw, Patrick Goode.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Love Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Dr. Ron Culbertson and Reverend Randall Osment officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Love Springs Baptist Church, 562 Sunny Slope Drive, Cowpens, SC 29330.
The family will be at the residence, 188 Fleming Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.
