Gary Thomas, 88, of Blacksburg, SC passed away peacefully Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. He is the son of the late Neely and Minerva Moore Thomas and husband of the late Brenda Ellis Thomas. After graduating from Blacksburg High School he joined the United States Navy. He is a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, Buffalo Lodge 202 AFM, and a cattle farmer.
Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Tena Thomas Earls (Verdell) and son, Johnny Thomas (Patty), both of Blacksburg, SC. Also surviving are grandchildren, Melanie Henderson (Forrest) and Neely Thomas (Trina), great grandchildren, Kelci, Danica, Bradley, Tanner, Kaleb, Trinly, Ethan, and Kinsley.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents and wife, are brothers, Wayne Thomas and Dr. Neil Thomas, Sr.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM at Mt. Paran Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service, 1:00 PM, with Dr. Terry Duvall and Rev. Josh Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Mickey Bailey, Brad Bailey, Josh Henderson, Bradley Mauney, Tanner Kirby, and Forrest Kirby.
At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Tena Earls, 108 Holly Grove Rd, Blacksburg, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 105 Mt Paran Rd, Blacksburg, SC 29702
