Gaffney, SC - James "Jim" Harvey Brown, Sr., 65, of 342 Norman Boulevard, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 at his residence.
Born in Portsmouth, VA, he was the husband of Susan Kelly Brown and son of the late Fredrick E. Brown and Irene Johnson Brown. He was formerly employed by Hoechst Celanese, retired from the S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, loved his fur-baby, Stella, and was an avid Elvis and Ozzy Osbourne fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Terry Wayne Byars (Chastity) of Blacksburg, James Brown, Jr. (fiancé Brooke) of Cowpens and Travis Brown (fiancé Olivia) of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Fredrick Brown, Jr. of North Carolina and Bruce W. Brown (Amanda) of Boiling Springs, SC; four sisters, Lettie Link, Jackie Brown, both of Spartanburg, Pam Gilbert of Campobello and Holly Brown of Boiling Springs, SC; eight grandchildren, Devin Byars, Cody Byars, Skyla Brown, Savannah Brown, Adriana Brown, Riley McGinnis, Audrey Watson and Grayli Byars; a great-granddaughter, Kali Jane Byars; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Keith and Nick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jenny Lee Garland.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
