UNION, SC - Mr. Jerry DeWayne Nance, Sr., age 80, of 593 Vanderford Rd., Union, widower of Charlene Howell Nance, passed away, Sunday, October 17, 2021, at his home.

Mr. Nance was born September 24, 1941, in Gaffney a son of the late Freeman Nance and Myrtle Crotts Nance. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and Limestone College. Mr. Nance retired as Owner and Operator of Nance Construction Company and had previously worked in the Textile Industry for Milliken & Co. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Nance was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Buffalo Post 87. Pop as he was affectionately known, loved farming, tractors, and was a collector of history and genealogy.

Surviving are four daughters, Melissa N. Wyatt, Karen N. Morris and husband Al, Lori N. Benton and husband Marshall all of Gaffney, and Paige N. Sherbert and husband TJ of Union; a son, Jerry DeWayne Nance, Jr. of Union; six grandchildren, Brett Clary and wife Lauren, Cody Wyatt, Casey Wyatt, Lisa B. Mullinax and husband Mitch, Zach Morris and wife Kaitlin, and Andy Benton; seven great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Kenadi, Caleb, Leighlan, Branson, Tucker, and Noah; and two sisters, Erlene Martin and husband Hubert of Gaffney and Martha Hughey and husband Roger of Gaffney. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Randal and Evelyn Medley and two brothers, Bobby Nance, Sr. and James Nance.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Scott and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Brett Clary, Cody Wyatt, Andy Benton, Eddie Hughey, Mitch Mullinax and Brian Medley. The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Reggie Medley, Zach Morris, Roger Hughey, and Butch Carter.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion, Buffalo Post 87, 501 Flat Dr., Buffalo, SC 29321.

The family is at the home, 593 Vanderford Rd., Union, SC 29379.
