Gaffney, S.C. - John F. Howlett, 90, formerly of 3753 Union Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at The Waterford at Dillon Pointe in Spartanburg.
Born in London England, he was the husband of the late Lillian Joyce Mills Howlett and son of the late John Howlett and Alice Perry Howlett. He retired from Timken, was a British Royal Navy World War II veteran serving on the HMS Pelican and HMS Pembroke, and was a member of the Church of England. He loved fishing and golf and played drums and harmonica in a country band.
Surviving are a son, Dean Howlett of Gaffney; three daughters, Susan Spencer and husband, Don, Denise White and Tracey Moore, all of Gaffney; nine grandchildren, David Little and wife, Mandy, Renee Little, Kelly Little, Jennifer Spencer, Katie Spencer Brown and husband, Richard, Kevin Moore, Darren White, Tammy White and Jonathan Howlett; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, John David Howlett and a son-in-law, Rick Moore.
The family will receive friends any time at the residence, 3753 Union Highway, Gaffney. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Waterford at Dillon Pointe, 104 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family will be at the residence, 3753 Union Highway, Gaffney.
