Kelly Milton Obituary

Blacksburg - In her hospital bed with her husband at her side on Tuesday, January 12, at 11:14 a.m. in her 56th year, Kelly Denise Milton went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, as a result of complications from surgery.

Family & friends are invited to attend a life celebration starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 16 being held at Gordon Mortuary, located at 400 W. Cherokee St, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

Kelly was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC by her wonderful parents, Hazel P Grubb and Catherine Fowler Grubb, both whom preceded her to heaven. She has four brothers, Pittman Grubb, Keith Grubb, Johnny Grubb and Rick Grubb (who passed shortly after birth). Kelly was much younger than her brothers, but they loved each other, and had many good and mischievous times together.

First and foremost, Kelly was an unconditional loving mother to her daughter, Amanda, son Jonathan, and her son from another mother, Barry. She treasured her children and grandchildren, living every moment for them. Mike, her husband was a distant third, fourth, oh, I just can't remember where he fit in. In fact, here lately she would have loved to strangle him until his head turned blue hoping that it would cause some stupid to die off and leave room for some smarts to return.

At the age of 13, it was love at first sight for Kelly, not so much for Mike. But that didn't matter, she would go on to chase off every other girl that even had the gall to look at him. She especially loved her role as Nanny to her 5 grandchildren, Alexus, Kaila (her Kaila Bug), Lucy (her best friend and Lucy Goosey), Bella (Nanny's world), and Tommy (her little man). As each grandchild came into her life, her heart grew even larger, and every one of them was treated equally with that wonderful, singular love that Kelly gave. I'm not capable of even remotely sharing the immense all-consuming love she had and constantly bestowed on them. There are no words to explain how much each of her grandchildren meant to her, as they were her life!

She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and even her customers (which she never met) at Ambustar, where she dispatched ambulances, loved her as well. She worked the weekend shift and so many of her customers would call when they just needed to bend an ear, and she cherished their talks. She had a strong sister/brother bond with her boss, Randy Guyton. He and his wife were forever there in her times of need. Oh, what a blessing it is to have true friends. Complete strangers were forever approaching her in various public places. And just out of the blue they'd ask, "can I talk to you". Standing invisibly by her side, Mike might as well have been on the moon, as you see Kelly's singular heavenly aura was communing with a heavy-laden soul. She always had time for people, and these strangers would just relay their struggles and Kelly would comfort them with her loving spirit, compassion, immense wisdom, and an abundance of common sense. Kelly and Mike's home provided respite for over 30 children in distress during their 37-year marriage, some for a few days, some for months. Children of all ages knew that they had a friend in Kelly, even if they had just met her 5 minutes ago. Kelly loved to cook and feed people. With love, she expertly prepared our Southern classics, and Mike ate like a king, now he's wondering if Door Dash or Uber Eats picks-up from Heaven.

She was a loving, wonderful soul, and will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to start a college fund for her grandchildren.
