Kenneth Hames Obituary

Kenneth Donnell Hames, 65, of 112 Brugg St, Blacksburg, passed away Thursday, April 21, in Greer Memorial Hospital, Greer, SC.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Betty Hames Collier and Timothy Smith.

Kenneth was a 1976 graduate of Blacksburg High School and was a former employee for Magnolia Finishing Plant. He was a member and trustee of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, of Blacksburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Collier.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: former wife, Ruby Smith Hames, of Gaffney; a son, Ryan Hames, of Gaffney; a daughter, Kenya Hames, of Gaffney, step-father, Elijah Collier (Yvette), of Kannapolis, NC; a brother, Darryl Collier, of Greer; a step-sister, Heather Collier, of Concord, NC; an aunt, Ruby Mae Hames who raised him as her son, of Blacksburg; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 1, at 2:00 p.m., in Trinity AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Chelsey Simmons, Rev. SL Ford, and Rev. Mark King. Interment will follow in Clingman Memorial Gardens, Blacksburg, SC. He will be in the church Sunday at 1p.m.

The family is at the home his aunt, Ruby Hames, 302 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg.
