Larry McAbee Obituary

Gaffney, SC - Larry "Mac" Eugene McAbee, 70, of 2407 Pacolet Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2026 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Katherine Elizabeth Hester McAbee and the son of the late Roland McAbee Jr. and Mary Ruth Shell McAbee. He loved his family, friends and everyone he met along the way and never met a stranger. He also enjoyed going to auctions with his best friends, Dennis and David Hampton, enjoyed going out to eat with his family and enjoyed carpentry. Mr. McAbee was retired from Kohler Company and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, also surviving is a son, Kenneth Hester (Marty) of Gaffney; two daughters, Lisa McAbee (Billy) and April McAbee, both of Gaffney; a brother, Robert McAbee (Nikki) of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Kaden Hester (Karsyn), Alexus Jones (Austin), Hailey Hester, Jerimah Hester and Lily Hester, all of Gaffney; and a nephew, Brad Poole. Mr. McAbee was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth McAbee and William "Bill" McAbee; a sister, Mary Sue Poole; a nephew, Eric Poole; a sister-in-law, Elaine McAbee; a brother-in-law, Richard Poole and a son-in-law, David Bushnell.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bryon McIntyre and Dr. Terry Duvall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Macedonia Baptist Church, 216 Macedonia Road, Gaffney, SC, 29341.

The family will be at the residence.
