Lorene Byars Obituary
Gaffney, SC - - Lorene Owens Byars, 69, of 159 Baldwin Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Keith Everett Byars and daughter of the late Eugene Earnest Owens and Barbara Painter Owens. She retired from Clemson Extension and was a member of Goucher Baptist Church. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and the elderly.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Lori McHugh (Michael) of Chesnee; a brother, Billy Eugene Owens (Sarah) of Kings Mountain; three grandchildren, Bradley McHugh (Amanda), Lauren McHugh and Morgan McHugh; a great-grandson, Henry Keith McHugh; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Thomas Owens, and a nephew, Shannon Michael Owens.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in the Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Robbie Stollger officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Goucher Baptist Church, 415 Goucher Creek Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.
The family will be at their respective homes.
