Patsy Elisha Ellis Manning, age 84, affectionately called "Mutta", of 116 Monroe Road, Gaffney, South Carolina, answered the Master's call on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 11:40 p.m. at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Spartanburg.
Daughter of the late Zero Ellis and the late Callie Richards Ellis, she was born on March 10, 1933, in Gaffney. Also preceding her in death were three children, William Finley Manning, Berkley Dean Manning and Ulysses Ellis; and a brother, Frederick Ellis. At an early age she joined Concord Baptist Church. She was last employed at Hamrick Mills of Gaffney. At a young age she was joined in marriage to Berkley Manning who preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Leonard Manning and Callie Young (Curtis), both of Ohio, and a grandson reared as her son, Terrance Thompson (Evangeline) of Gaffney; her sister, Elizabeth Jolly Leach of Gaffney; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; six great greatgrandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elnora Littlejohn and May Velma Adams; her special friends, Betty Ree Harris, Tela Houey, Annie Reen Houey and Martha Jean Houey ("They were there for her when we couldn't be," the family); many whom she loved and loved her as "Mom", "Grandmother" and "Friend"; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. She will lie instate one hour prior to the service.
