Ronald Wood

1937 - 2022

Gaffney, SC - Ronald Vassy Wood, 85 of 1294 Pacolet Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Carolyn Crocker Wood and son of the late Noah A. Wood and Lois Vassy Wood. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from the Board of Public Works and Ace Hardware, and a member of the S. C. National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a choir member, a member of the Anthony Hopper Sunday School class, and served on the Scout and Music Committees. He was a former member of Beaverdam Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir director. He loved his family, singing, calling shut-ins at the Cherokee County Sheriff 's Office, horses and Western movies. He was also an avid S.C. Gamecocks, Appalachian State, Carolina Panthers and NASCAR fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald A. Wood (Tricia) of Charlotte, NC; a granddaughter, Claire Wood of Avon, Colorado; two sisters-inlaw, Emma Crocker and Nancy Crocker, both of Gaffney; a special niece, Donna Reome (Rod) of Gaffney; a special nephew, John Crocker (Renee) of Gaffney and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald A. Wood.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Huddleston and Reverend Tommy Wright officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
