Gaffney, SC - Velina Wyatt Owensby, 63, of 1452 Leadmine Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of James "Slick" Owensby and daughter of Louise Bell Wyatt of Gaffney and the late James "Jim" Edward Wyatt. She retired from the Cherokee County School District and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She loved her family, her Lord and Church, and cooking. Her grandchildren were the "apple of her eye".

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two sons, Matthew "Matt" Robertson (Megan) and J. W. Owensby (Stephanie), both of Gaffney; a daughter, Jessica Owensby of Gaffney; a brother, Jimmy Wyatt (Pattie) of Gaffney; a sister, Janice Blanton (Tony) of Gaffney; grandchildren, Xander, Kallie, Lorelie, Silas Ray, Lyla and one on the way, Ethan; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in the Southside Baptist Church Family Life Center with Dr. Wofford Caughman and Reverend Kenny Wood officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Social distancing and masks are requested.
