CARLA HOTVEDT Obituary
Carla Hotvedt died Jan. 14, 2017, in Gainesville, FL. She was 60.
Carla is survived by her husband of 30 years, Julio Pomar; sons Alex Pomar and Jake Pomar; stepdaughter Monica Pomar; and sister-in-law Maria Elena Pomar Lloyd.
Like many Gainesvillians, Carla moved here to attend the University of Florida. Following graduation, she was a photographer at The Gainesville Sun in the late 1970s through the decade of the '80s. She left the Sun to begin a family, as well as launch what turned out to be an international photo business named Silver Image Photo Agency.
In 2001, Carla was diagnosed with lymphoma, which fortunately was very manageable until these past years. The family wishes to thank the many friends, relatives, co-workers and medical staff who stepped forward each time there was a need. A particular mention goes to the Shands oncology staff and Dr. James W. Lynch, as well as to husband Julio, whose vows of 'to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, from this day forward until death do us part' were exemplified each and every day.
Carla will be buried in a private ceremony at Forest Meadows Cemetery. A memorial service is planned for a future date.
