Kingsley Tompkins Obituary

TOMPKINS,
KINGSLEY ANNE, 5
Kingsley Anne Tompkins, 5, died November 30, 2015 at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. A spunky kindergartner with a love of swimming, singing and gymnastics, Kingsley never met a stranger.
Entering the world on her own timeline, Kingsley - a 10 pound baby - was born in Gainesville, Florida on Dec. 4, 2009. Despite her mother's protest that no pink be involved in her plans to welcome a baby girl, Kingsley grew to love the colors pink and purple, and loved to have her mother style her sandy blonde hair into different braids and ponytails.
Her interests weren't all traditionally feminine, though. She was an active child and loved to swim, always comfortable and fearless in the water. Kingsley also loved gymnastics, mastered a balance bike by her fourth birthday and was riding a bicycle without training wheels before she was five.
Kingsley had a heart for helping others. She was a helper to her family when her younger brother Tyler arrived, and loved to pitch in around the house with chores and cooking. She attended kindergarten at Queen of Peace Catholic Academy where she displayed an eager curiosity for learning about Christ and His work. She shared God's love with family and friends, often reminding her mother, 'God is good all the time,' and comforting classmates when they were upset. Once she took time to calm a classmate who was in tears and nervous about losing his first tooth.
She and her brother Tyler had a special bond and Kingsley would politely demand that he call her 'Sissy' - a special privilege granted to him only. Like most brothers and sisters, Kingsley and Ty had their fair share of battles, and not one to give up easily, Kingsley even occasionally smacked Ty when no one was looking.
Kingsley is survived by her parents Benjamin Tompkins and Tracy Baglia Tompkins and younger brother Tyler Tompkins of Newberry, FL, maternal grandparents Mary Lou Baglia and David and Carol Baglia, paternal grandparents Beverly Tompkins and Rodney and Rhonda Tompkins, special family Ellen Mooney and Steve and Cathie Rexroad and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She also gave the gift of organ donation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Avenue with Fr. Jeff McGowan and Fr. Kazimierz Ligeza as celebrants. The Family will receive friends Thursday, December 3, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations towards the future college fund of Tyler Tompkins, a scholarship endowment at Queen of Peace Academy in Kingsley's honor and Kingsley's medical and funeral expenses. Donations may be made directly to the family or via

Saw her heartfelt, beautiful memorial video on YT. Wanted to learn more. And yes I could see the special Sister - Brother bonding in Kingsley's video; with she and Tyler. I thought ahead to Tyler at a later date looking back. I never had a sister. Wish I did. Thanks for the blessings Kingsley gave.
