Ellen Sanders Obituary

Dr. Ellen Sanders, age 38, passed away peacefully in her home on June 20th. Ellen was born to Larry and Carol Perkins on August 24th, 1984. She attended North Hall High School. After graduating from Pomona College, she went on to receive her medical degree from Duke University. She completed her family medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Ellen met her husband Chris during her time in Charleston, where they were married in 2013. She returned home to Hall County in 2015 to work as a family physician at the Longstreet Clinic. In 2019, Ellen gave birth to their son Elijah (Eli). As a family medicine physician, Dr. Sanders treated patients of all ages. She was known as a compassionate, caring physician who loved everybody. In her retirement letter to her patients, she said, "I grew up in Hall County, and it was my dream to serve my community by providing outstanding medical care to the people in this place that I love. I have been incredibly fortunate to fulfill this dream and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have touched so many lives in my hometown." Ellen's impact on the Hall County community will be felt for generations. Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Larry Perkins. She is survived by her husband Chris, son Elijah, mother Carol Perkins, sister Anna Brown, niece Caroline Brown, and nephew Tolen Brown, all near Gainesville, GA. She is also survived by her grandmother, Marie Williamson of Griffin, GA. Ellen's life will be celebrated with a memorial and reception on July 1st at 3 PM at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center. The family invites her friends, colleagues, and patients to attend. In lieu of flowers, Ellen asked that donations be made to The Good News Clinics, a nonprofit providing free medical and dental care to uninsured residents of Hall County who cannot afford to purchase health care services. https://www.goodnewsclinics.org/

Dr. Sander was so sweet and attentive when I would go for an appointment. We not only talked medical but, family. I remember when she had her son. She was just as thrilled being a new mom as I was being a grandma. Every time I went to the office, we showed each other pictures of her son and my granddaughter. My husband and I both were her patients of hers and we miss her dearly. We pray that God will give you strength and comfort to get through the loss and help you embrace your future.

When my husband and I first moved to the Gainesville area we chose her as our primary caregiver and over the years became friends with her. We were very excited when she became pregnant and l made her a crocheted blanket for him. We were so very saddened to hear she had become sick and now of her passing. She will surely be missed. We pray for all the family and friends that she touched. Fly high Ellen

After moving to Georgia in 2020, Dr. Sanders was the first medical professional that I had an appointment with that I thought "that was a great appointment! I'm happy that I found MY doctor." I'm very sad to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Dr. Ellen Sanders was both mine and my wife's doctor. She was so special and sweet to both of us and an excellent physician. We are so sad that she was taken away so suddenly, and even though we didn't know what her condition was, we prayed for her often. To her husband and little boy, we are so sorry, and our prayers are with you. Rest In Peace, precious Lady. Love, Philip and Paula Casper
