Mrs. Mary Hettie Souther

1927 - 2007

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in the chapel of Little- Davenport Funeral Home for Mary Hettie Brewer Souther, age 80, of Souther Road, Gainesville. The Rev. Michael Kirby will officiate. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at the funeral home. Mrs. Souther was born in Blairsville on Aug. 7, 1927, and she went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. Her life was a perfect example of living by the Golden Rule. At family gatherings, everyone looked forward to her chocolate cake and sweet tea. She taught Sunday school for more than 30 years at Corinth Baptist Church and retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center following 20 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, David Lewis Souther; parents, Charlie and Amanda Brewer; brothers, Paul Brewer and William Brewer; and sisters, Dorothy Collins and Bertha Nix.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Diane Souther, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Les Miller, Acworth, Teresa and Rodney Barrett and Rita and Randall Rylee, both of Gainesville; grandchildren, Cindy Forrester, Phil and Jennifer Cowan, Christina and Chris Mesurac, Rachel and Bryan Ledford, Daniel Barrett, Nicole Barrett, Russell Miller and Matthew Miller; great-grandchildren, Kayla Forrester, Gavin, Riley, Wyatt and Dylan Mesurac and Lana Ledford; brother, Roy Brewer; and sisters, Flossie Chambers, Ruby Cooper and Annie Mae Souther.
