Rogers Odell, 80, of Oakwood passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Skelton, the Rev. Lawson Horton and Rogers's two grandsons, Jonathan and Jess Odell will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Odell was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Hall County to the late Marion Jackson Odell and Georgia Williams Odell. He was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Medley Odell and Tony Odell; and his sister, Carolyn Hammond. Rogers loved his family with a passion and did not care to let you know when talking to him that they all meant the world to him. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed by all.

Mr. Odell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lurene Skelton Odell, whom he loved dearly; his two sons and their wives, Danny and Glenda Odell of Gainesville and Donny and Diane Odell of Gillsville; grandchildren, Stephanie and Gary Duran, Jennifer and Todd Little, Sara and Chris Bryant, Jonathan and Janet Odell and Jess Odell; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Grayson Duran, Noah, Madeline and Savannah Little and Jacob, Katie Rae and Elijah Bryant; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Elaine Odell of Chestnut Mountain; brother, Stan Odell of Commerce; and sister-in-law, Janice Odell of Maysville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eagle Ranch, 5500 Union Church Road, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.

I had many wonderful memories growing up at Redwine Church and Rogers was one of my favorite people. He always was so funny and made me laugh. Rogers was also one of my Dad’s good friends and I know that they are in Heaven together. My God Bless you and comfort you during this time. Debbie Buffington Morris
