Mr. Walter Darrel Chisolm, age 85, of Dahlonega, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Wallace Pruitt will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Chisolm was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Noxapater, Miss., to the late Frank Earnest Chisolm and Genora Joiner Price.

He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant and retired from University of Georgia, 4-H System.

Walter was a member of Lakeview Hills Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta Marie Elder Chisolm; and his brothers, Malcomb Chisolm, Kenneth Chisolm and Frank Chisolm.

Mr. Chisolm is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Robin Chisolm of Clermont, and Mike and Linda Chisolm of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Lanny Anderson of Dahlonega; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Weymouth and Steve Tarver of Tennessee; sister, Sylvia Duett of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Sue Chisolm of Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504, is in charge of arrangements.

Walt (Papa Walt) was a great friend! He and Mama Lou lived at and ran Wahsega 4-H Center for many years. They were dedicated and VERY DEPENDABLE. As 4-H camp coord. from 1980 to 97 it was my pleasure and honor to work with the the Chisolms. They established a "code" which still exist at Wahsega! I deeply regret that I will be unable to attend the funeral due to previous commitment. FAMILY, please know that I deeply respected your dad/granddad/great granddad and consider him to be one of the 5 most HONORABLE men in my memory!!!
