Alice Anderson Obituary
Mrs. Anderson was born on Nov. 26, 1923, in Galax, Va., to Charles (Charlie) and Callie Roberts Andrews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Joe L. Anderson; and brother-in-law, F.H. (Tater) Anderson.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Michael (Mike) and Geneva Anderson of Galax, Va.; step-grandson, Tyler L. Newman and wife, Kelsey A. Newman ,of Mechanicsville, Va.; sisters-in-law, Jan Hugo of Newport News, Va., Pearl Anderson of New Castle, Va., and Shirley Anderson of Galax, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and special cousins.
Mrs. Anderson was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Galax.
During World War II she was employed by the Grayson County Rationing Board in Independence, Va.
When TV Cable first came to Galax, she was with them for 24 years until she retired.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark McFadden and the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Burial followed in the Anderson Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at the First United Methodist Church.
Mask and social distancing will be required for the visitation and the funeral service.
Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

When I worked at FUMC in Galax, Alice was a mainstay. She was sweet, kind, and funny. I truly liked her and Heaven has definitely gained an angel.

So sorry for your great loss. Alice was loved by all who knew her. She was a very religious lady. Went with her ladies group on Wednesday mornings. She will be greatly missed by all that ever knew her. Condolences to family she leaves behind.❤

Mike, I am sorry I can't be there. My first memories were when we (Mama, Granny, Kathrine and I lived upstairs and Aunt Callie and Alice lived downstairs in house where the library is today. My grandmonther and your grandmother were sistes.

A charming young lady when I knew Alice MANY years ago. I was honored to have served as Joe's 'best man' for his wedding to Alice in the early to mid 50's. ...don't recall if at Methodist Church on Center Street or at First Baptist Church on Main Street. Regret having lost contact with Alice & Joe many years ago. Kept up with 'Tater' a long time through 'Fiddlers'. Wishing God's blessings to surround the family. So sorry for your loss and sadness. Wishing you love & peace.

Mike, I am sorry for your loss, she loved you and Geneva and talked about you every day. Alice was a sweet and kind lady and loved the Lord. I am thankful to have known her for twenty-three years and was fortunate enough to be a caregiver for her for two years. She shared many stories with me about her past and seemed she was always smiling when she told them. I will miss her but I know we will meet again one day. Love you Alice!
