Catherine Strauss Obituary
She was born in Baltimore, Md., on Aug. 10, 1929, to the late Harry Edward and Bessye May (Utermohle) Weidman.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Strauss Sr.
Catherine graduated from Catonsville High School in Baltimore, Md., and was a professional bookkeeper for many years.
The central focus in her life was being a caretaker to others. She cared for her mother, cared for her children and grandchildren, and cared for other family members, friends and church members. Along the way she also enjoyed horseback riding, boating, RV camping, travel and church activities.
Survivors include her sons, Harold Lee Strauss Jr. of Littlestown, Pa., Harry George Mark Strauss (Brenda) of Hillsville, Va., and William Robert Strauss (Evelin) of Owings Mills, Md.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with burial following will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 2130 Woodlawn Drive, Baltimore, Md. 21207 on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Hillsville, P.O. Box 356, Hillsville, Va. 24343.

I remember Aunt Sue (as we called her) with always having a big smile on her face. Our dad, Jack Weidman, married my mom and adopted us kids as his own. It was the best day of our lives! Not only did we gain a dad, but were blessed to get beautiful Aunt Sue and Nanny Weidman as our family too. Aunt Sue was helpful to my mom, caring for her, after my dad died, so being a caregiver was her gift. Never did a Christmas go by without getting a card from Aunt Sue. She always treated us as her family. So sad to hear of her passing. Our loss is Heavens gain. My family will be praying for comfort for her family!

I am very sad to learn of Aunt Sue's passing. My husband Bob and I send our deepest condolences to the family. (My Dad [Charles Jack Weidman} was her brother) I have fond memories of Aunt Sue and yes, her positive, nurturing spirit of caring for her family! She always made you feel special when you were around her and it was always special to receive her Christmas card each year. She was a lovely lady.

Such a sweet lady and dear friend. She is missed in the Upper Room Sunday School Class and also all of the the other church activities. Love to the family.
