Daryl Flowers Obituary
Survivors include his loving family, wife of 55 years, Irene A. Flowers; sons and daughter-in-law, Barry Wayne and Angie Flowers of Asburn, Va., and Christopher Keith Flowers of Hillsville; five grandchildren, Bryan and Bruce Flowers of Asburn, Va., Danielle Elizabeth, Chandler Ryan and Haley Katherine Flowers of Hillsville; and three sisters, Shirley Davis of Mooresville, N.C., Lellian Mantooth of Danville and Sara Noblette of Charlotte, N.C.
He was born on July 12, 1933, in Gastonia, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daryl Reid Flowers; his parents, James Hampton and Lucy Wansley Flowers of Gastonia; and three brothers, Blen Flowers of Gastonia, N.C., and Cade and Jack Flowers, both of San Antonio, Texas.
Daryl proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1952 to 1959 and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
The Flowers family extends their gratitude to the staff, doctors, nurses, chaplain and volunteers at Radford Carilion Hospice Clinic for their compassionate loving care.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Gardner Memorial Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Carroll County E.M.S. or to Hillsville Fire Department.

Irene and family, I am so sorry to hear of Daryl's passing. I had not seen him in a while, but always enjoyed our meetings, because he always had a smile and we always talked about our families. Lee and I extend our sympathy to all those who love Daryl. Our memories go back to January, 1994, when Daryl and Irene generously hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner and celebrated Libby's and Reid's beautiful marriage ceremony and reception. They included us in parties for their granddaughter (my niece),Danielle, and attended important events in her life. Daryl was successful in business; he used his assets to provide a good life for his family. Daryl and Danielle were featured in a news clip discouraging texting while driving. His love and pride for her beamed. His was truly a "Life Well Lived."
