The Rev. Dwight Leon Burris, 80, of Fries, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Grayson County, on Nov. 12, 1940, to the late Roscoe and Helen Waddell Burris.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Burris of the home; son, Darren Burris and wife, Patricia, of Fries; brother, Elden Burris and wife, Carolyn, of Fries; sisters-in-law, Marie and husband, Danny Moss and Margaret Patton, all of Galax; brothers-in-law, Junior Patton, Bill Patton and Dale Patton all of Fries; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at High Country Services at 2 p.m. The Rev. William Greer, the Rev. Tony Funk, the Rev. Billy Stuart and the Rev. Danny Osborne will officiate. Burial followed in Liberty Hill UMC Cemetery in Fries with military honors conducted by Grayson VFW Post #7726.
Covid-19 protocol and guidelines were observed.
