Forrest Ronald Wellman, age 91, passed away on January 4, 2025, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota surrounded by loved ones. Forrest was born on December 29,1933, to parents Leon and Bernice (Card) Wellman. He spent most of his long life in Anoka County, Minnesota.
Forrest is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Lloyd, Lorna, and Pearl, along with siblings-in-law June, Sid, Delbert, Delores and Irene. Forrest is also preceded in death by his son Jerry Nelson and daughter-in-law Missy. He is survived by his loving wife Deanna, his siblings Maurice, Vern, and Dale (Jackie). He is also survived by his children Dennis (Cathy) Nelson, Tim Nelson, Val (Glen) Whipple, Mary Wellman, along with 10 grandchildren Chris, Gillian, Carly, Emma, Hanna, Maddie (Logan), Elise, Blake, Evan and Ethan, and 3 great-grandchildren Everly, Brielle, and Brantley.
Forrest was a lover of all things outdoors. As a younger man, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also delighted in wildlife, particularly birds. His home was always filled with another hobby of his: agates, which he proudly displayed for all to see. His pet fish were another specialty of his. His loved ones could find him doting on his fish often.
Forrest married the love of his life, Deanna, on April 15, 1972. He took on a very special role in Deanna’s life. He not only became her husband , but a father figure to her 3 sons, who had tragically lost their father earlier on in life. Forrest and Deanna were then blessed with twin daughters.
Forrest was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family more than anything. This past Christmas he had remarked to Deanna and his daughter Mary what a nice Christmas he had spending time with his family.
Forrest was always quieter, but cherished watching his loved ones laugh and have fun beside him. His legacy will forever be remembered as the best Vikings play-by-play announcer in the Wellman household, Best Pickle Maker (every family get together, his pickles would be eaten shortly after they were set on the table), and an amazing caretaker to his wife Deanna. He would make her coffee every morning and would make sure her breakfast muffins were always warmed up. Forrest took care of Deanna with such love every day that they were together. Forrest will be
missed immensely by everyone who loves him.
