Richard Lewis Turner

1936 - 2025

Richard Lewis Turner of Galt, California passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2025, with family by his side. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. Although he is deeply missed, we know he is with family, friends, fishing buddies and his dogs, Shorty and Fancy. Richard was born in Marysville, California on October 11th, 1936, to Lottie and George Turner. Richard enjoyed many things in life and was passionately devoted to his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a connoisseur of all foods and snacks. Richard loved sharing in your passions, often pursuing them with you along the way. His stories of growing up in Thornton, California were equal to a novel and provided the ultimate adventurous narrative. He could recall every joke and nursery rhyme he ever heard including, "Fuzzy Wuzzy" and, "Fishy, Fishy in the Brook." In retirement, he enjoyed extended trips to Brookings, Oregon, living by the sea in his RV. He enjoyed nightly countryside drives reliving memories passed. Richard retired from TriValley Growers, where he was a mechanic for 44 years. His work ethic was evident in his hands and fingers, on display for all to see the years of dedication to his craft. He was an amazing storyteller and could bring to life the characters and tales with his southern accent. He was a kind man with a heart of gold and a smile and laugh to match. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Darla Turner, and a blended family of (5) children, (12) grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his father, mother, and two sisters. Thank you to all the family and friends who visited Richard in his final days; it meant the world to him. Thank you to all the medical staff and Green Valley Hospice supporting Richard in his final days. He will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts and memories. Our family will be honoring Richard's request for a private family ceremony remembering his life.
