George W. Mandel

1947 - 2025

George W. Mandel, age 78 of Morrisdale, left his earthly life on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Born August 12, 1947 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late George, Jr. and Althea (Reed) Mandel.

Surviving are his children, George E. Mandel and wife Kelly of Orchard Lake, MI, and Lyndsay N. Nybeck of Munson; his grandchildren, Lauren Mandel, Kate Mandel, Myles Mandel, Madison Nybeck, Mallory Nybeck; and his siblings, Gloria Mandel of Philipsburg; Debra Wantz and her husband Jay, of Littlestown, PA and his niece, Kelsey Wantz, also of Littlestown, PA.

George spoke of his overwhelming pride and joy for his children and grandchildren every day.

George was a member of Chapel of the Good Shepherd Church, Hawk Run. He was a 1965 graduate of West Branch High School, Allport, and a graduate of Clarion University with a degree in Elementary Education. He then taught at West Branch Area High School for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the ELKS Club, #1173, Philipsburg; the Lincoln Club, #1164, Hawk Run; and the National Education Association (NEA), Washington, DC.

Family and friends will be received from 1-3:00 PM on November 2, 2025 at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale until time of a memorial service, in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 PM with Father Clifford Johnston.

His final resting place will be by his parents in Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run.
