Harry Sloppy Obituary

Harry J. "Jim" Sloppy Sr. 80, of Curwensville, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Ridgeview Health Care and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family.

Born September 17, 1945, in Clearfield, he was the son of Harry L. and Marie (Rowles) Sloppy.

He was a 1965 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. He was a machinist at Clearfield Machine Company retiring after 52 years of service. He served as President of the IAMAW Local Union #1048 Lone Pine Lodge for over 35 years.

Jim loved hunting, fishing, and camping, but most of all he loved his time with his family. Attending his grandsons' sporting events and watching his granddaughter dance brought so much joy to his life. He eagerly waited to attend all the events. He also enjoyed attending the Clearfield County Fair daily and watching the Harness Races. Jim was a member of the original Jaycee's in Curwensville and of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

On June 10, 1967, at St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, he wed Linda Kay (Mollura) Sloppy who survives along with three children: Harry "Jamie" Sloppy Jr. and his wife Susie Shaw Sloppy of Grampian, Melissa Sloppy and her significant other Darren Neeper of Curwensville, and Nicole Collins and her husband Dustin of Curwensville; six grandchildren Jarrett, Alisha, and Seth Sloppy, Kacyn Collins, Kyle Sarvis, and Peyton Mains; and six great grandchildren Jaxon Best, Judson Best, Cayden Hill, Colton, Emberly and Fern Sarvis. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dennis Mollura and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents, brother Darrel Kirk, and sisters Beverly Korb and Bonnie Aughenbaugh.

Funeral Services will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, with Pastor Roger McGary officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
