Kathy Wassil Obituary

Kathy M. Wassil, 72 of Curwensville, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Penn Highlands DuBois after a brief illness.

Born August 15, 1951 in Sharon, PA she was the daughter of William and Patricia (Gallagher) Moore.

She graduated from Sharon Area High School and Clarion University with a bachelor degree in Education. She taught high school French at Curwensville Area High School for 34 years upon her retirement in 2013.

She is survived by 2 sons Eric Wassil of Curwensville, and Matt Wassil of Clearfield, 3 grandchildren Kealy Daye (Jacob) Tyrone, PA, Andrew Wassil of Curwensville, and Isla Wassil of Clearfield. She is also survived by sisters Patty Keefe (Bill), Sue Thomas and Paula McElrath (Robert) all of Sharon, PA.

On August 3, 1974 in Sharon, PA she wed Thomas Wassil who preceded her in death on August 29, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Janet Fisher.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church of Clearfield on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10 AM with Father Ian McElrath as celebrant. Interment will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 5-8 PM

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kathy Wassil Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of 302 W. 5th Avenue, Clearfield, PA 16830
