Clifford Yamashita Obituary
Clifford Kunio Yamashita was born on February 17th, 1950 and peacefully passed away on July 23rd, 2024. He was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania; and eventually moved to Long Beach where he was raised by his father. Growing up he often visited a pharmacy with friends for soda pop; these fond memories inspired his dream of one day opening his own pharmacy. After receiving his professional education at USC, Cliff opened Meiji Pharmacy in Gardena on December 12, 1977.
Cliff was an exceptional pharmacist, he knew each customer by name and offered a hot cup of coffee, candy, and a seat in his recliners. He consistently gave others his full presence and attention, and no matter how busy he was he would listen to or share a laugh with anyone in need. He showed every person in every encounter genuine kindness and care.
Cliff was not only a dedicated pharmacist, he was also an amazing father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, friend, employer, and so much more. He loved the mountains and especially enjoyed hiking and fishing with family and friends in Mammoth. Parker Lake was his favorite. He had a joy for life and he loved to share that joy with those around him; from bringing his employees muffins from Torrance Bakery and making sure to get everyone's favorite to throwing his big July 4th pool parties. Cliff took great care of those around him and truly enjoyed seeing others happy. He had an incredible sense of humor and overall welcoming nature that made him everyone's friend. All who knew him, loved him. Cliff will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, his children Nicole, Brandon, and Akemi, and grandchildren Kyan, Leila, and Rylan.
Clifford Yamashita is now laid to rest in Green Hills Memorial in Rancho Palos Verdes.
