On July 1, 2021, Marcelino Almaraz, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 93. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Marcelino put his love of family first, followed closely by his love of country and community. Marcelino was born in Miami, Arizona on June 2, 1928, the 7th of 13 children to Florentino and Ladislada Almaraz. Moving to Gardena, CA at an early age, he would live there for the rest of his life. Marce attended St. Anthony of Padua Elementary School and graduated from Gardena High School.
Marce married the love of his life, Virginia Ramirez, in November, 1954. Together they raised 7 children. At the end of his life, he was grandfather to 11 and great grandfather to 20. Marce is survived by his loving wife Virginia, his children (Lucy, Terri, Marce
Jr., Tino, Toni, and Esther), his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Margaret, and countless nieces, nephews and godchildren. He is reunited in heaven with his daughter Patricia and his brothers and sisters: Victoria, Petra, Julian, Augustina, John, Rita, Martin, Blaza, Simon and Daniel. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Please join us to celebrate Marcelino's life. A rosary will be said on Monday, July 19th at 6:00 PM and the funeral mass will be on Tuesday, July 20th at 10:00 AM,
both at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 1050 West 163rd St., Gardena, CA. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery, Rancho Palos Verdes. A reception will then follow at the Gardena Elks Lodge.
