Marie Schenfisch Obituary

In loving memory of Marie Annette (Pursche) Schenfisch
Marie was born in Torrance, Ca and passed in Torrance, Ca at 95 years. She was the middle child of Carl P Pursche and Thora A (Smith) Pursche of Gardena. Marie attended Gardena Schools and Graduated Las Laureas from Gardena High 1945, She Graduated from Compton College in 1947, majoring in accounting, and attended UCLA in 1948 (Theta Upsilon sorority) but was eventually needed in the family automotive and real estate businesses which she worked in accounting from the age of 14 years until her late 80's, latter she moved into the family real estate management as a partner. Marie worked the family accounting as a side job while working full time in book keeping/ accounting jobs from small businesses to eventually working at TRW Space Division which she retired.
In 1953, Marie married Albert V Schenfisch a Naval Officer and they eloped to Paris, France where her first son was born. Her second son was born in Corona California. As a Naval wife she was stationed in Paris, France, Nice (Villa) France, Los Angeles CA, Fairfax VA, Washington DC (Alexandria Virginia). Her ex-husband made a career in the USN retired as Lieutenant Commander and had second and third careers; he was a triple war veteran. Albert was an aggressive and upward motivated officer who worked out of the Pentagon and other Foreign (Greece, France and Rome) locations which took its toll on his family resulting in divorce. Marie enjoyed the Naval venues, life and challenges, but also found it difficult.
Marie worked hard at the early of age (14) and kept that pace most of her life, she exceeded in school and learned accounting, Real Estate, stocks and investing. With her mother Thora and brother Roy backing her, and longtime family friends the Avakians'; She built an apartment following in her father and mother (Pursche Family) footsteps as a RE investor/developer/manager. Marie had to be tough and firm as a single parent raising two active sons on her own, working long hours and weekends. Her hobbies were traveling, landscape gardening, visiting family mountain cottage, neighbors and animals.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Sister Doris M (Pursche) Rath, ex-husband Albert V. Schenfisch.
Survivors include her older brother Roy C. Pursche, sons Vernon R. Schenfisch and Brent A. Schenfisch and single grandchild Jennavi Schenfisch; Cousins Eve Cobine and Dale Gillingham.
The Schenfisch family wants to send a THANK YOU, to all the Contractors, Labors, Neighbor's, Friends, Tenants, City officials and Police; A tough, long life well lived with many obstacles, setbacks and turns. Marie pushed forward to the end. "it takes a village to raise a child"; GO Mohicans!
