Mary Nell Rose

HOT SPRINGS - Rose, Mary Nell (Hall) Mary Nell Rose, 90, passed peacefully at Pine Hill Retirement Community with her aughters at her side on August 13, 2023. A celebration of Mary Nell's life will be held 2:00 p.m., August 21, 2023, at Pine Hills Retirement Community in Hot Springs, SD. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, SD.
Mary Nell was born and raised in Hot Springs, graduating from Hot Springs High School. She met and then married Robert Vance (Bob) Rose on April 04, 1950. To this union four children were born. She started her career at the VA Medical Facility in Hot Springs in 1961. When the family moved to
Culver City, CA in September of 1965, she continued her career in the Pathology Department at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. She retired in August of 1991. Her favorite pastimes were bowling, music, gardening, scrapbooking and needle crafts. Mary Nell & Bob sold their house in 2004 and moved to Mendenhall, MS to be near their son and daughter-in-law, building a new home in the Martinville Community. Bob passed away in September of 2012 after a battle with cancer. In 2017 Mary Nell returned to her home town, residing at Pine Hill Retirement Community.
She was preceded in death by parents Clarence (Red) Hall of Hot Springs and Verona Bristol of Hot Springs; her husband, Bob; her son, Jerald Dean of Mendenhall, MS; brothers Richard Frances (Dick) Hall of Sidney, NE and Forest Dean Hall of Hot Springs; sisters Yvonne Rita (Vonnie) (Hall) Strickland of San Diego, CA and Shirley Hall of Hot Springs who passed at the age of two.
She is survived by her children: daughters Nancy Jo (Dan) Shubin of Humble, TX and Shirley Jean (Steve) DuBurk of
Williamson, NY; son Larry Dale Rose (Paul Sternhagen) of Van Nuys, CA; daughter in-law Linda Rose of Mendenhall, MS; eight grand children and two step-grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and three stepgreat grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends.
