Allen Boyd Obituary
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Wilks officiating. Interment will be in the Woodside cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Boyd was born July 7, 1930 in Clover, SC to the late James and Eunice Hagans Boyd. Allen graduated from Clover High School in 1949 and was the quarterback for the football team for 4 years. He was the voice of the Clover Blue Eagles for 45 years. Mr. Boyd served 2 years in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for H&F Food Mart, Liberty Life Insurance Co. until retirement and then MTS in Clover for 2 years after retiring. Mr. Boyd was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clover where he served on Pastor Parrish and an usher. He attended Roper Memorial Sunday School Class. Mr. Boyd was also a member of the Hejaz Shriners, York Rite Body Macky, and Clover Alpine Lodge 208 for 50 years. He was a charter member of the Clover Jaycees and served as President. Mr. Boyd served on the Clover Town Council for several years and was a member of the SC Gamecock Club for 45 years.
Survivors are his high school sweetheart of 63 years, Rachel Turner Boyd; daughters Nancy Boyd Sullivan of McCormick, SC, Cliffie Boyd Pilon (Bernie) of Destin, FL and Angie Boyd Groves (Rick) of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren John Press Sullivan, IV and (fiancé Tiarra and her son Jordan), Sarah Sullivan Beck (Wesley), Hoby Richard Groves (Samantha), Clarise Anne Seamans (SPF George) and Tanner Allen Groves; great-grandchild Presley Kaye Beck.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Bus Fund, 124 Bethel Street, Clover, SC 29710, Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605, or Carolina Gardens of York, 1020 North Congress Street, York, SC 29745.

Prayers to Mrs. Rachel and the family. Allen was a "Man's Man". He loved his God, his family, his town, his Gamecocks, and his Blue Eagles!! He was the last person to still call me "Junior" when I was in my late 50's. Heaven is a much better place now that Allen is there! Rest In Peace Allen Boyd!
