Anne Wright

Anne Pless Wright passed away on October 7, 2017 at Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte. Anne suffered a stroke on February 14, 2017 and fought with great determination to recover until her decision to enter hospice care. Throughout it all, Anne's wit, intelligence and love for those around her did not falter.

Anne was born on March 23, 1956 in Morganton, NC, the daughter of the late Phifer and Jean Ledford Pless. She was valedictorian of the last class to graduate from Drexel High School. Anne then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gardner Webb College and a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Anne worked for many years with the Caldwell County Department of Social Services, primarily in adult and aging services and in 2007 came to the Gaston County Department of Social Services where she was an Adult Protective Services Supervisor.

Anne is survived by her loving husband, Martin, Children Ben Johnson of London, England, Matt Johnson of Nashville, TN, Emily North of Charlotte, David Wright of Gastonia and Lillie Wright of Chapel Hill, NC. and by a grandchild Vivienne North. She is also survived by her sisters Vickie Pless of Murfreesboro, TN, and Piper Church of Wilkesboro, NC.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held on November 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at McLean Funeral Directors, 700S. New Hope Rd., Gastonia NC.
