David Ward Obituary

GASTONIA - David Ward, 70, entered the gates of heaven on April 7, 2017 at his residence.

He was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Gaston County, the son of the late John and Ina Pearl Ward.

David is survived by his daughter, Michelle Thomas and husband, Mark of Wilmington; stepson, Allen Butler and wife, Karen; granddaughters, Ashleigh Adams and Kait Boyd of Wilmington; step-grandchildren, Christy and Derek; great-grandchildren, Addison, Alex, Abby and Roman; brother, Danny Ward and wife, Betty of Belmont; sisters, Mary Armstrong and husband, Don of Wilmington, Louise Denton and husband, Bobby of Gastonia; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Dot Green and special neighbor, Rossie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former spouses, Girlie Ward and Gerri Ward; sisters, Joann Di Peri and Ruth Whitacre and his special dog, King.

A celebration of life service, officiated by Pastors Bobby Gilley and Sam Barnette will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at South Gastonia Church of God.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Gastonia Church of God, 310 Carolina Avenue, Gastonia, 28052.

I'm sorry due to illness I was unable to attend home going. I tried to give him comfort while on earth. He was a good friend, and neighbor that I could always count on. I'll miss him dearly.
