Donna Ritter Obituary
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Donna Marie Ritter, 58, passed away Jan. 12, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
Born June 4, 1953 in Trenton, N.J., she was a daughter of the late George Smatusck and Mildred Charlotte "Peggy" Weisel Smatusck.
She was a server at Jackson's Cafeteria in Gastonia.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Judson Leatherman and wife, Kimberly of Dallas; two daughters, Christine Kiefer and husband, Mark of Hamilton, N.J., and Sheri George and husband, Alan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren, Judson and Wyatt Leatherman, Erin, Mark, Haylee and Matthew Kiefer; and a sister, Diane Roberts of Richmond, Va.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel, Cherryville.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Gaston County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2334, Gastonia, NC 28053.

Although it's been many years, I am so sorry to hear about Donna. It seems childhood friends always remain with us in spirit and it is so sad to hear when one passes. Please know my prayers are with all of you.

Both Donna and her sister Diane were good friends of mine in our tight circle in the HHS Music Rooms. While Diane was my classmate, for whatever reason, Donna and I were more friendly. So many memories of the things we did together while in Hightstown High fills me with sadness knowing that another bright light has left this world. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends that I never had the blessing to know and try to find comfort in that your grief is shared by an old friend of hers that life sent in a different direction.

Dear Christine, Danny & Sheri,
We are heartbroken to hear of the the loss of your Mother. Donna was a special friend and a wonderful neighbor who I depended upon so often for help with parties. She was also so much fun to sneak off with and share little stories! What a great sense of humor. I wish you all peace and I will think of Donna enjoying a place in the sun with her bright blues gazing on a sunset.

I am so sorry to hear of Donna's sudden passing. I have fond memories of Donna singing in our church choir and also in the scholl choirs. My deepest sympathy to all of her family. I am sure she will be sorely missed!
