Lynn Hamm Obituary

1971- 2020
Gastonia – Lynn Ledford Hamm, 49 went home to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ on April 17, 2020 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County on January 27, 1971.
Lynn was, to many that knew her, either an angel on earth, or the next closest thing to one. And her love of music and talent for singing was well known, including many years singing on the Praise Team at First ARP Church. She also loved teaching the Dental students at Highland School of Technology, where she changed many young lives through her loving mentorship. She was also awarded as Teacher of the Year for Gaston County for the 2013-2014 school year. Most of all Lynn loved Jesus, and He radiated from her, nothing brought her more joy than signing to and about Jesus up until her final days. Lynn gave so much of herself to others even in the midst of her long battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by not just her family, but by many others...her impact on the Gastonia community and indeed beyond is immeasurable. Her family sincerely appreciates all of the messages of love in remembrance of her life.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of almost 28 years, Nathan A. Hamm; her beloved children, Nathan Alan "Nate" Hamm, Jr., Kelli Ann Hamm King and husband Scott; and Emily Gail Hamm and soon to be husband Jacob Stinnett; granddaughter Adalynn King;
her parents Rick Ledford and Grace Harbin; mother and father in law, Greg and Gail Hamm.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21st at the picnic area at Olney Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mark Tankersley officiating.
Private interment will be at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Releasing of the Doves.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, if you feel the need to stay home, a card or a phone call to the family will be appreciated.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to Gaston Community Church, P.O. Box 550741, Gastonia, NC 28055

Nathan I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Lynn. She was an incredibly kind and caring woman. I have never stopped think of you both when you invited me to attend church with your family. I remember our talks of how important she was to you when we were both young Marines. I pray that she was able to look over you and your family during this recent hurricane.

Nathan and Family,

I consider myself very fortunate to have worked with such a special lady at Highland School of Technology from 2012 through 2015.
She loved life and shared her love for the Lord with everyone she encountered. My life has been enhanced in a positive way because of her. Kelly and I will be praying for the family in the coming days and we praise God for the tremendous impact she bestowed on others around her on earth. May we all learn the lesson taught to us from Lynn to love one anther as God has loved us. Be comforted in knowing that Lynn is rejoicing in heaven with her Lord.

I was a student of sweet Lynn's in high school, and she made such an impact on my life-as she did with so many others. I am where I am today because of her love, prayers, and guidance. I know she is running with, talking to, and worshipping our heavenly father. Prayers for the Hamm family in the days and months to come, may God pour his peace and comfort onto each one of you.

Gregg, I am so sorry. Let it be said as the Apostle Paul wrote to his understudy, Timothy, that Lynn "fought the good fight, finished the race, and keep the faith". Although I did not know Lynn well, I do remember her from the times I would visit Cliff, and her contribution of song and energy at Cliff's Service. May God grant you peace, brother. John Stanley

When Lynn decided to step away from education to spend more time with her family, I was the one chosen to fill her shoes. Even in her petite size, i had BIG shoes to fill! She was loved by all. I don't think I've ever meet such a kind, loving, and giving individual. She passed the torch to me, and I quickly learned what an influence this little, spunky lady had left to her students! Always smiling, always happy, always caring, and always willing to help me learn the dental program. I don't know how I would have made it without her love and guidance. I pray that I can be half the teacher and mentor that she was to so many people. She absolutely radiated Christ's love every moment you saw her. Lynn ran the race, and now she has her ultimate reward. Prayers for you Nathan, Kelli, Emily, and Nate.

I did not know Lynn very long but, we worked together while she was teaching at Highland. I am a dental assistant and she would send her students to us for their clinical experience. She was always cheerful and eager to help her students learn. Prayers to the family to find peace within during this time of sorrow.

Some people are in our lives for many years and others but for a fleeting moment. Lynn was both to many people. But regardless of how long she was in our lives, she made the same impact upon us all. And that impact was that while some proclaim the gospel, Lynn lived it every moment. She didn't light up a room when she entered it, although her smile sure seemed to. No, she simply carried the light of Jesus Christ with her and He lit up every room she brought Him into.
Lynn Hamm was a light in this world that cannot be extinguished by death. Because she knows (still) that Jesus already conquered death! And so she is free from this world. Free to wait on her family to join her in God's time. Free to sing the praises of Jesus all the time.
Until we meet again my dearest friend. Praise Jesus!
So blessed to have seen her recently. Her last words, after I hugged her, were you smell good. I'll never forget that. And her last words to Madison were, I love you.

As a friend of a friend, I only had the pleasure of spending time with Lynn at several special events & occasions for our mutual friend, but I always so enjoyed our conversations and my time with her. She was truly a ray of sunshine and I can only imagine how greatly she will be missed by her family and friends. To know her was to love her! God surely must have needed another angel In heaven to take her from this earth so untimely. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hamm family and all of Lynn's dear friends.

I knew Mrs. Hamm while I was a student at HST. While I was not personally taught by her we interacted on many occasions due to our love for HOSA and even spent our time together on a nationals trip to Florida! She was always so kind to me and I've always thought... I hope I can grow up and be someone like Mrs. Hamm. A God loving woman who is happy and not afraid to show love to others. She is and will always be a special woman. I'm so thankful she is now in heaven in the place where she can rest and show everyone her beautiful smile! Rest In Peace Mrs. Hamm. Many prayers for the family.
