Robert Blackburn Jr. Obituary

LINCOLNTON - Mr. Robert Gwyn Blackburn, Jr., 77, of 1295 Rosehill Drive in Lincolnton, died Saturday, March 14, 2009.

A celebration of life service will be held 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Sellers and the Rev. Robert Hill officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Blackburn was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Lincoln County to the late Robert Gywn Sr. and Edna Huffman Blackburn. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Queen Blackburn and two brothers, Bill and Gene Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn was retired from Delta Apparel where he was the purchasing director. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Burke Blackburn of the home; daughter, Celeste B. Harrill and husband Tom of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Hayley H. Hoops of Gastonia and Justin Harrill of Lincolnton; two great-grandchildren, Spencer and Sydney; four brothers, David Blackburn of Cherryville, Marshall Blackburn, Walt Blackburn and Jim Blackburn all of Lincolnton; two sisters, Betty Loftin and Ann Heavner of Lincolnton.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Warlick Funeral Home is serving the Blackburn family.
