Sonja Barnett Obituary
A native of Florence County, she was the daughter of the late Bennie D. Lakin and Mattie Temple Tatum Lakin.
The funeral service will be Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 519 W. 19th Avenue, Gastonia, NC at 1:30 p.m. with family visitation from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Entombment at Gaston Memorial Park, New Hope Road, Gastonia.
The family is receiving friends at Sonja's home, 2441Payton Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056 during their bereavement.
Costner Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

My heart was saddened to hear about the passing of Ms. Barnett. She was my 4th grade teacher at New Hope Elementary. Ms. Barnett was my favorite. I thank God for the discipline that she gave me. Whenever I would get to giggly she would set me down on the steps for recess. She will surely be missed.
