Susan Pruitt Obituary

GASTONIA, NC- Susan Maloney Pruitt, 58, of Gastonia passed away December 30, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. She was born December 5, 1962 in Palm Beach County, a daughter of the late Dr. Eugene Maloney and Margaret Harper Maloney Lingerfeldt.
Susan was a very loving and caring person to everyone with whom she encountered. Daily, she showed her support and love for her husband and daughter through acts of kindness. She will be remembered for her joy and expressive laughter, which was seen through her smile, her words, and the way she would light up a room when she entered. Susan retired from Gaston County schools where she taught for 33 years. Teaching was her passion and after retirement, she continued to tutor during her free time. She loved the ocean and enjoyed making memories with her family at the beach. Susan was a member of First ARP Church of Gastonia.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Terry Pruitt, Sr.; second mother, Judith Maloney; daughter, Anna Pruitt and boyfriend, Ryan Ellis; sons, Terry J. Pruitt, Jr. (Carolyn) and Joshua Pruitt (Melody); brothers, James Maloney and Brian Maloney (Diedre); sister, Pam DeVoss (Rick); grandchildren, Miranda and Ethan Pruitt; uncle Ragan Harper; nieces, Willow, Kiyoshi, Emmalee, Autumn Maloney and Amy Pruitt; nephew, Jerry Wayne; great-nephew, Anlon Pope; godmother, Katherine McCollum; and Carly McMillan, affectionately known as Susan's "second daughter."
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Maloney.
There will be a private memorial service for Susan with Father Shawn Griffith officiating.

When Susan and Paul were growing upnext door to us Susan would be the teacher and the other children her students. She was about 8 years old at the time. She was a delightful child.
